Meet the therapist
Beatriz Hechavarria.
I work with people who are curious about themselves. Not just what they do, but why. The work is unhurried, trauma-informed, and honest. We move at a pace that feels safe. But we do move.
The approach
Attachment-oriented and psychodynamic. We don't just manage symptoms. We trace where they come from. The goal isn't quick fixes; it's genuine self-understanding. When you understand where a pattern came from, you can begin to relate to yourself differently. That's where lasting change starts.
Background
Before private practice, I worked with adults navigating addiction recovery and with children in the foster care system. Those years deepened my understanding of trauma, attachment, identity, and emotional resilience. That background shapes how I sit with clients today.
Who I work with
Adults navigating anxiety, self-worth struggles, relationship difficulties, and recurring emotional patterns that often trace back to earlier relational wounds. My clients usually aren't in crisis. They've started to notice a pattern, and they're ready to look at it.
Vera.Truth, in Latin.
Haus.Home, in German.
My grandmother's name was Vera. Together, the two words point to what the work is really about: finding your way back to yourself, with the honesty to look at what you find there.
What I believe
Real change rarely begins with effort. It begins with understanding. When self-understanding deepens, self-trust grows — and so do the relationships around it.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself as I am, then I can change.
